Available Positions:

Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years Public Library or Public Education experience or Associate Degree with 4 years Public Library or Public Education experience including working with children and young adults

Working knowledge of computers and Internet.

            Willingness to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Requires a valid Drivers license, access to a car and the willingness to travel on Library related business.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Management and organizational skills, including planning, time management, setting objectives and working without direct supervisions.

Knowledge of Library programming methods and objectives for adults, young adults and children.

Ability to communicate effectively with all age groups. 

Knowledge of Library procedures and processes.

Must be able to lift 30 pounds, assist in setting up and taking down tables and chairs, clean up after programs.

Must be able to assist in programming preparation, presentation and evaluation, arts and crafts and public relations.



To assist Librarians in the creation, planning, coordinating, presenting and evaluating Library programs for all ages.

Present programs as assigned by the Librarian.

To assist Librarians in setting up for programs, preparing materials for use in programming, and to present programs with and without supervision.

To assist Librarians in the creation and preparation of public relations materials regarding Library programs, supplying information to local media outlets regarding library programs.

To assist Librarians in the coordination of programming with managers and staff in the various Branches.

To serve as part of the management team of the Library.

To complete various reports and analysis of the programming as required.

To attend and participate in workshops seminars regarding Library programming.

To perform duties with a minimum of supervision.


Typical Duties:

            Assist the Librarians in the performance of their duties.

            Act when necessary in the absence of the Librarians.

Assist Librarians in the process of creating, planning, coordinating, preparing and presenting library programming to all age groups and present programs as assigned.

            Program preparation, (set up and clean up), including setting up chairs, tables, a-v equipment, refreshments, and greeting guests.

Assist the Librarians in contacting presenters, obtaining presenter information, and coordinating presenter activities.

Assist in the preparation of publicity and public relations materials for Library programming, including contacts with local media.

Prepare reports as required.

Perform other duties as required.
