Briggs
Lawrence County Public Library's genealogy/local history
collection (Hamner Room) concentrates on the Lawrence County,
Ohio area. It was named after Phyllis Hamner, one of Lawrence
County, Ohio's most beloved and dedicated genealogist. When
visiting the Hamner Room please be aware of the following
policy's and procedures. |

The Probate Court Office located at the Courthouse
in Ironton Ohio, has microfilmed all births (1868-1938), deaths
(1868-1938), marriages (1817-2000) and wills (1848-2000). These
documents are available at Briggs Library's Local History and Genealogy
Department. If you are planning to do research at the courthouse,
please check at Briggs Library's Local History and Genealogy Department
first.
- Copies are 10 cents for copy machine and 25 cents for microfilm
machines. The machines are not coin operated. You do not have to have
correct change, but please bring small currency.
- We do not allow children under 12.
- No food or Drinks.
- No Solicitation.
- Briggs Library is also a Family
History Center. This allows you to order microfilm from the Family
History Library in Salt Lake City, UT, but the film MUST stay at Briggs
Library. Call or email
us for further details.

Our room is located on the 2nd Floor at the Main
Library, and all material must be used in the library.
